by William Van Zandt and Jane Milmore
produced by special arrangement with SAMUEL FRENCH, Inc.
Rob Brewster's parents are very proud of their son, the doctor. What they don't know is that Rob has used all the money they gave him for med school to purchase fancy digs and live it up while pursuing a writing career. Then the parents arrive for a visit. What could possibly go wrong? A complicated prescription of desperate fakery, outlandishly improvised characters and unabashed mischief follow. Rob is an energetic if inept con man, but his parents are balloons of egotism and inattention waiting to be exploded – so willfully naive they cling to every scam even as it unravels. Playing Doctor, by William Van Zandt and Jane Milmore, is a wonderfully wacky burlesque that will keep audiences of all ages laughing. |
