Auditions are held at Kaleidoscope Theatre, usually in the auditorium, unless it is being used for rehearsals. If that is the case they are held next door in the shop. They typically start at 7 pm.
You can read through the script before the audition, if you are interested, but it is certainly not required. We place two copies of the scripts for each show, except musicals (copyright protection for the music), at the Bay County Library and at the Lynn Haven Library.
You don't have to bring resumes or anything else to auditions, just come out and have fun.
Since Kaleidoscope Theatre is an all-volunteer community theatre, we rely on members of the community to provide our pool of talent. We encourage anyone who may be the slight bit interested in acting to come out and audition for a role.
However, acting is not all fun and games. Accepting a role in a Kaleidoscope production means accepting a very time-consuming responsibility. Because most people work during the day, rehearsals usually take place on week nights. Starting around 7 pm, they are usually over by 10 pm, but depending on how complicated the play is, or other extenuating circumstances, they can go significantly later at times (especially the last week before opening).
In addition, cast members are expected to participate in the construction of the set, participate in media interviews at the local TV and radio stations, and generally help out with the production.
On the positive side, cast members receive two free tickets to give to friends or family, typically make lots of great friends and have a wonderful time.
