Edgar Lansbury presented The Subject was Roses at the Royale Theatre, NYC, on May 25, 1964.

Synopsis:

Winner of the 1965 Pulitzer Prize for drama. Timmy Cleary has just returned home to the Bronx after fighting in World War II. He finds himself in the middle of his parents' bickering. His mother and father are stuck in an unhappy marriage that only seems to get worse with the passage of time. War has made Timmy grow up and, for the first time, he starts coming to terms with his troubled parents. In the film adaptation Jack Albertson and Martin Sheen recreated their Broadway roles. Patricia Neal played the mother. For their compelling characterizations, she and Jack Albertson were nominated for Academy Awards.
