Synopsis:

A lonely orphan, Lilli, lands a job with a raffish and run-down carnival. The wide-eyed and innocent orphan is mesmerized by its gritty, tawdry glamour. She is nonetheless worried that she doesn't seem to do anything well. She soon becoames a pawn in a fierce rivalry for her affection between Marco the Magnificent, a magician; and Paul Berthalet, a shy puppeteer who can only communicate his true feelings through his puppets. "Love Makes the World Go Round" is the hit tune. A charming and lively musical feast, the show shared a Tony Award for Best Musical and won another Tony for its leading actress, Anna Maria Alberghetti.
