Inspecting Carol was first produced at the Seattle Repertory Theatre on December 11, 1991.
The cast and crew of the familiar holiday show A Christmas Carol befriend a would-be actor, mistaking him for the theatre auditor being sent by their grant agency to determine if their theatre operation is worthy of continued grant support. Much nonsense ensues, giving the audience an entirely new take on Scrooge and the classic Christmas story.
