There are many ways you can help out around the theatre. Whatever you are good at, we can find a way to use your talents. If you have no skills (at least that you know of) don't let that scare you away. We can teach you everything you need to know and will be glad to have your help.

If you would like to be actively involved in the plays, you can try out for a part, help build the set, help create costumes, work backstage during the performances, or work on the technical crew (sound & lights). Each show has its own requirements, with more or fewer people from each category. If you are interested in any of these things, come to the auditions for the show or shows you'd like to help with and talk to the director or assistant director. If you do not have a preference for a show to work on, contact anyone at Kaleidoscope by any means and we will help you find a place where you can help, or sign up online using our contact form.

Less obvious ways you can help include building maintenance, gardening and landscape maintenance, helping work the concession stand, serving on the board of directors, helping with ad sales and PR, taking tickets at the door (a great way to meet new people!), just to name a few.

Starting about a month before each play, there are usually people working on set construction Saturday and Sunday afternoons. Sometimes starting in the morning, but almost always going on shortly after noon. If you'd like, feel free to drop by to see how you can help.

Another very important and somewhat behind-the-scenes way you can help is to direct a show. This requires a significant committment, described on our director approval page, but we are always looking for creative people to help out with this task. Acting experience is not required to direct, although it can help. You can also suggest plays you would like to see performed at KT. The complete play selection process is described on our play selection page. And here is a list of play resources and Web sites you may find helpful when looking for plays to submit.

None of these tasks requires very much time from anybody. You can spend as much or as little time helping as you want. If you can only spare an hour a month - we can still use your help, contact us and see!

If you want to help out, but don't want to or can't help physically, we are always trying to raise money. If you are feeling generous, you could become a member of the theatre, or if you are feeling really extravagant, you could even become one of our community partners! We really appreciate these people, companies and organizations who have made an investment in their theatre! It costs a lot to run a theatre, and we are always trying to improve the theatre experience for our audience.

If you are interested in any of these things (or anything else) - let us know! You can sign up online using our contact form, send us an email, drop us a note, or call. Everything you need to know to reach us can be found on the contact us page.
